What is the current state of FIWARE IoT Edge GEs? particularly, the Protocol Adaptor and Gateway Logic GEs?

I wanted to check on the curent status of the FIWARE IoT Edge GEs. They still appear as part of the FIWARE IoT architecture here: https://forge.fiware.org/plugins/medi...ofThings(IoT)ServicesEnablementArchitecture, but not actively on the FIWARE catalogue.

I understand the Protocol Adaptor is deprecated, based on what I see in the catalogue.

Regarding the Gateway Logic GE, it seems it was never implemented even though the specification for it appears in an older release under the name of IoT.Gateway.DeviceManagement: https://forge.fiware.org/plugins/medi...

Does it mean these two GEs are completely out of the picture and IDEC is the only active edge component in FIWARE? Or are there still plans to implement the Gateway Logic and Protocol Adaptor GEs in next releases?

Many thanks in advance for clarifying.

Kind regards,

ilknur

Dear Iknur

These GEs were specified and named before we made major changes to the FIWARE architecture, leading to a clearer separation of the Edge and backend parts of FIWARE implementations (gateway was the initial name for a subset of what we now call edge). I consider both of them to be deprecated and their functions to be taken over by the new IDEC GE, of which Cepheus is an implementation. Highlighting Cepheus as an edge enabler should make its differentiation with Perseo clear enough. Perseo and Cepheus are both based on the Esper CEP core, but, as an edge enabler, IDEC/Cepheus does more than CEP.
